Okay living here truly is like living in one constant vacation – with the exception of us having to work and looking for work (which is a job in and of itself, believe me). This weekend we had awesome 45 to 50-degree weather and bright, sunny skies. We totally took advantage.

But first, on Friday night we went out on a “blind date” with another couple from our church – I’d been emailing with Connie for a couple weeks trying to get something on the calendar. She and her husband, Jon, lead another small group but unfortunately, that one is pretty full with 18 people. But we wanted to meet up anyway, so we met for dinner and then made our eyes go crazy playing cosmic mini-golf at Putting Edge in the Colorado Mills Mall. They are a pretty wacky couple with a quirky sense of humor so we had a fun time and hope to get together with them again.

Saturday was perfect for a day of driving tours through nearby towns (Evergreen & Conifer) and hiking a couple short hikes. The best part about living here is the proximity of recreational activities. Literally less than five minutes from us is another fun area to hike – Golden Gate Canyon State Park. We only explored a small area, but we are excited to go back again, especially in the summer.

On Sunday we joined the Red Rocks runners group for the afternoon at Deer Creek Canyon Park near Littleton. But instead of running, we opted to hike alongside our friend Amy who’d hurt her knee and couldn’t do the run. Yeah…as many of you know, we’re not so much the running type so the group may not be our cup of tea, but we enjoyed the hike – anything to get us outside and active!

Getting ready to hike as evidenced by my sporty get-up.

I'm not sure this needs explaining, but it's the start of the trail going into the foothills.

We'll likely hike these trails at some point, too.

So sorry for throwing you off in the title if you thought it was related to our eyesight, but you have to admit it sums up our weekend quite nicely. And I’m always one for trickery (that reminds me, I should probably change my voicemail greeting again…). But as far as our eyesight goes, check back in a week or two and I’ll give you a more accurate update.

Until my next post,
Laura
