I have to admit, I feel quite accomplished. Because for being a slacker, I really got a lot done in the last few weeks. I guess this is considered “nesting,” even though I never really felt a sense of urgency they say comes with it (well, I did panic at one point…) – just that I had a never-ending list of to-dos. Here’s what I’ve managed to pull off baby-wise just so you know how cool I am:

  • sent final thank yous
  • finished sewing the birds for my bird mobile for little Hart (although, still to be hung up by some twigs and fishing line)
  • assembled the Pack ‘N Play (well, Ryan did this…)
  • organized baby’s “corner” (rearranged our bedroom, got the diaper station all set up and stocked, book shelf all in order)
  • organized my closet to share space with little Hart
  • rearranged the office closet to fit more baby things
  • washed miniature clothes, blankets, sheets and diapers
  • got tiny clothes hung in order, diapers folded and dressers filled
  • packed my hospital bag
  • made final purchases with our registry discounts (a task in and of itself…returning things, re-purchasing things, adding things…oy)
  • took two birthing classes and hospital tour
  • visited a pediatrician’s office (right by my OB) and scheduled two pediatrician interviews
  • got a massage and a mani/pedi
  • prepared four large meals for the freezer
  • baked cookies for the nurses
  • pre-registered for the hospital and filled out my birth plan
  • made two labor music mixes (one calm and relaxing, one upbeat and fun with songs such as “Body Movin’” by the Beastie Boys, “He’s Going the Distance” by Cake, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Hands and “Boom, Boom, Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas – totally appropriate, right?)
  • organized and wrote out Allrecipes.com recipe cards that didn’t yet have a home in my recipe box
  • cleaned for baby’s arrival
  • installed the car seat (okay, this was all Ryan, too)
  • prepped the diaper bag
  • packed Sadie’s bag and wrote up care instructions
  • went for a couple nice walks around Golden (this was more for old time’s sake, but walking is still baby prep!)
  • organized my area of the office (desktop clean up, filing paperwork, getting spreadsheets up-to-date, etc.)
  • read all my parenting magazines and [most of] Happiest Baby on the Block
  • practiced wrapping my Moby wrap for future babywearing (doesn’t work so well with a giant belly)
  • designed two different options for birth announcements, both are super cute (should probably get a head start on addressing…)

… I think there’s more but my brain stopped working just now.

And then there’s just the general day-to-day things I did like worked on a few design projects, dropped off donations, got oil changes for both cars, tires rotated, license plate renewal (two months late…oops!) etc.

I have also been sleeping in nearly every day. Yes.

Seriously, that’s pretty darn good for someone who plans last minute and procrastinates until the very end. I guess that means I think the little bebe is pretty important.

So excited.

Love,
Laura
